Doctor

Dr. Matt Dahlquist , DVM

Dr. Matt stumbled across Veterinary Medicine while taking a year off from college. Raised in Eugene, Oregon he'd set off to study biology at Brandeis University but after 2 years took time to evaluate goals and options. After a brief stint working at the Gorilla Foundation (Penny Patterson and Koko the sign language using Gorilla [ see links]) he landed at Wildlife Safari and worked in wildlife rehabilitation, tower guard and keeper positions. Transfering to Oregon State he recieved a bachelors in Zoology in 1988 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.
Dr. D worked for 2 years in a mixed large and small animal practice in Cottage Grove, OR before taking a 1 year post with Sedgewick County Zoo in Wichita, KS. He spent 6 months as an Emergency Clinic Veterinarian and performing as "substitute" for clinics needing a fill-in doctor before moving to Portland and joining a dog & cat hospital in 1996. In 1999 he purchased Gateway Veterinary Hospital.

Ms. Rebecca M Martilla , CVT

Born and raised in Pleasant Valley, Oregon; Rebecca has been tending to animals since a very young age. She started in the veterinary field in 1974 as a Veterinary and Kennel Assistant. Since this time she has worked in many veterinary hospitals in Oregon and Washington. In 1985 she recieved her certification as an Animal Health Technician by passing the Oregon State Board exam.

Other interests include horses, antiques and camping.
